Your new friend from Russia

Hello!
My name is Reseda. I live in a small town of Nefteyugansk with my parents.
I study at school № 5 it's a special school - multy profiled.
It is  special because we can choose subjects necessary for our
future profession and learn them intensevely. Not so long ago I decided to change my profile subjects
in English and Social Studies. In this connection I was transfered to another class (form)
and now I also have the opportunity to write in the blog like my new classmates!
As for my hobbies - I have been playing the piano for 7 years. Also I play the guitar and collect
some things from the last time for example: souvenirs, tickets, postcards and so on.

Now I'd like to tell you about my summer. Unfortunatly, on the first day of my summer holidays I got to hospital. But it's better than if I had been there during the school year.
After this my mother and I went to Ufa to my older brother. He is a student of Petrolium University there. Ufa is the amazing capital of Bashkortostan. There you can to see a variety of buildings and monuments of the XIX century and modern high buildings.
The rest of the   summer I mostly spent at home or went  shopping.
But one day I went to the movie in the open air cinema with my elder cousin.
The movie name is "Moonrise Kingdom". It's about a pair of young lovers flee their New England town, which causes a local party to fan out and find them. This movie is very powerful and unusal.
If I have a chance to see some movie in the open air cinema again I'll do that! So it's very amusing!

Hello Argentineans!
How nice for me that I got your letters! My holidays were amazing, and I’d like to tell you about many things that happened with me in this trip.
During my summer I was in Kyrgyzstan with my parents. The point is that my sister is studying and living in the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, for 4 years and we visited her. I visited many places there, but most of all I liked the view of the night city from a great height. Also I was impressed with the Museum of Blood. There you can see pictures of bloody battles for the freedom of people, secret finds from revolutions and revolts and many interesting things. In this museum everyone will receive unusual emotions and shivers will run on his body .
You can't imagine how incredibly beautiful it is in our mountains! Local air is so clean that your head will turn and ears will lay. There a lot of herbs and flowers which used in medicine  grow.
Kyrgyzstan is famous for its hot springs and above all Lake Issyk-Kul.I was here twice and did not come out of the water. The weather was very hot and I actually had a good time. I’d like to show you my photos which I took in Kyrgyzstan.
What did you do this summer?Did you make any friends this summer? What do you want to do after school?
I’m looking forward to hearing from you soon!
Best wishes,
Merim.

Hello, dear friends!
My name is Alexander. I'm writing to you for the first time.
This year I have had really a good rest. In June I and my friend were in Moscow. You know, it is the capital of Russia, and in fact, this is a very beautiful place with a lot of historical sites and buildings.
Moscow City is as big as a small country, it  includes its laws and rules. People always are hurrying there; it seems as if they are missing the only train and trying to catch it up. The only place, where people have some silence is the underground, when they come in a train car. It is like an endless stream, especially in rush hours. Every station in the Metropolitan has its own design, which represents some big event in Russian history.
Of course, I must tell you about Red Square! When I was there, I was really feeling a spirit of Russia. I saw the Kremlin with some towers and red brick walls. On the top of one of them you can see a big clock  called Kuranty. By the way, in this picture you can see Red Square, St. Basil's Cathedral and the Kremlin in the evening. I think the view is wonderful!
Despite of the city size, there are no odd sectors - every of them has its own meaning in the  city life. Moscow is a business center too. Economic questions about all the  country have their answers in Moscow. If you want to buy something special, you must go there. If you want new feelings, you must go there too!
Best wishes,
Alexander

Ann about her summer holidays

Hi, friends!
I was glad to read your letters after my summer holidays. This August I was in Greece with my mom, on the island of Crete. We stayed at the hotel near the beach, so out of the window we could even see the sea. I got great pleasure swimming in the sea, which seemed bottomless and endless (in the future, I plan to get a tattoo with the word “sea” on the Norwegian or the Swedish languages). The sea and the beach were clean, but I was afraid to step on a sand-dollar!

Greeks and Europeans on the whole are very nice and friendly people, I was pleased to talk to them, but I haven’t made any real friends. At our hotel a lovely gay couple stayed too, who were rather strange. But I didn’t get acquainted with them and I’m sorry about it.
In these pictures you can see me and a view of one Greek town.
Has anyone of you been to Greece? Which foreign countries have you visited? How do you usually spend your summer holidays?
Write me soon, please!
Best wishes,
Ann

Masha to her friends

Hello my dear friends from Argentina!
I’m Masha, I have written to you earlier. Now, I want to tell you about my summer holidays. They weren’t so cool, but sometimes I really was happy.
You know, we live in a small town in the north of Russia, so every of us tries to spend our holidays in different cities or countries. My parents and I went to the nearby city of Tyumen for some days. There I visited the Art Museum and the exhibition of the painter Salvador Dali. There were a lot of his illustrations to the book "Devine Comedy" by Dante. Have you ever seen any of his works?
Also I've read some books, such as ”In his own write” by John Lennon, “Meat.Eating animals” by Johnatan Foer and “Flowers for Algernon” by Daniel Keyes. The last one is a real page-turner and it’s very hard to put down. Do you know that this book is included to school program in the USA? Do you like reading?
Yesterday I saw the movie "The Secret in their Eyes" by your recommendation. It’s really a very good film. Thank you for advising to watch it!
In these pictures you can see my pets: my birds and my lovely cat. by the way, do you like animals?
Hope to hear from you as soon as possible!
Your friend,

Masha

Zhanna's impressions about her summer holidays

Hello, dear Argentineans!
I was really surprised having got so many letters from you . During 3 months we didn`t write cos we had our summer  holidays. I`ve had a great time and now I`ll tell u abot it.
I`ve been to Spain for 2 weeks and I can say just one – it`s something unforgetable. Although the flight was quit long – 7 hours, I felt happy. I visited such cities as Barcelona, Reus, Tarragona, Valensia and I lived in a touristic town called Salou. The most exciting and fantastic thing for me was the Barcelona architecture heritage. The city is rich of different unusual modern and ancient great buildings: from dwelling-houses to palaces. Spainish people were very kind, sociable, friendly and nice. The weather also pleased me: each day was so sunny and warm, just the sea was a little bit cold, nevertheless, it didn`t matter. By the way, I`ve been to the biggest entertainment park  around Spain, like  Disneyland, - Port Aventure– it impressed me very much - and if you wish I can tell u more about it in the next letter.Being in Spain, I even learned a few easy words,  I really liked the language and I`d be glad to learn it professionally in my nearest future.
Well, my summer holidays were so cool that I envy myself. And  I have some questions to you, for example, have you ever been abroad? If you have, what countries did you visit? Would you like to go to Port Aventure?
I look forward to your reply.
Best wishes,

Zhanna.

To Valentina and the students!

Hi dear Valentina! It is always a great surprise to read you...We feel happy when you answer our letters!
As regards our jackets, we designed them ourselves!!! It was really fun...
We got very interested in your daughter's job...how nice!!! We love horse riding and everything related to horses...they are such intelligent animals.
We would like to tell you that in a city near our twon there is centre for disabled people where they work with horses in order to cope with people's problems. It is so interesting..it's kind of school where they have classes in the morning and in the afternoon they are in contact with horses.

In the following article we will tell you some specific information about it and we'll show you a video!

Therapeutic horseback riding, (also known as equine-assisted activity or adaptive riding) is used to teach riding skills to people with disabilities. Therapeutic riding is beneficial for children and adults who present with any of a wide range of cognitive, physical, and emotional conditions.

A therapeutic riding program is often taught by a nationally-certified instructor. In an equine-assisted activity (EAA) program, a certified or specially-trained riding instructor teaches a person with a disability how to ride a horse. However, working with horses can provide more than just riding skills - participants can also learn companionship, responsibility, confidence, leadership, vocational and educational skills, and may offer competition venues in various riding disciplines.
Riding a horse provides a unique recreational or leisure activity for many. There are many sports in which the disabled can participate in to enhance their lives and attain social and physical fitness (such as the Special Olympic programs, for people with cognitive disabilities). Hundreds of programs (and many organizations) exist worldwide which are dedicated to horseback riding or horse care in the context of a cognitive or other disability.

To Paula and Guillermo

Hi, Paula and Guillermo!
It was great to read your letter in the blog! The next year will be also our final year at school and we'll have our final exams before entering the university. English is one of our profile subjects so we'll have a very difficult exam in English too.
You name horse riding as your hobby. You know my daughter is also fond of horses. She is an adult and an owner of  her own Horse Riding Club. She teaches children to ride horses and they often participate in different competitions and sometimes win.
We like your jackets very much. Did you really design them yourselves? It's great! Did you sew them yourselves too? Perhaps, you want to be clothes designers, don't you? In any case it's a nice thing to be an expert in clothing!
Have a nice time!

Friday 25 May 2012

Hi, dear friends from Argentina!
I`m writing you again – Zhanna. It was really interesting to read your last letters. I`ve got a lot of new about you. And I can say that I was quite surprised having read in the letters that you have so many sisters and brothers because usually there are only  2children or even 1  in Russian families. For example, I`m the only child but nevertheless I`m very glad and I need no one else. Just don`t think that I`m selfish and naughty.
Well, as for my last news I`m gonna visit Spain in July,  the resort town of Salou. I believe the trip will be something really great and unforgettable. By the way, I`ve been there (I mean Spain), when travelling around Europe. During the journey I also visited France, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Austria, Poland and Check Republic. I was so impressed and, especially, I liked Spain. Foreign culture, traditions and art interest me very much. Most of all I like architecture. It really takes my breath away. I hope Spain will bring me the same happiness again and I`ll tell you about all my impressions in September.
Hope to here from you as soon as you can.
Best wishes,
Zhanna
P.S. In this picture you can see me (on the right) together with my best friend Kristina (on the left).

To Pilar, Melisa and Micaela from Kirill

Hi, Girls! Thanks a lot for your letters and pictures!
I was glad to hear your replies for my letter. I've found in the internet Mendoza’s photos and I was deeply impressed with beautiful sights and the landscape. I like mountains, especially when I can ride on a snowboard or ski. I'm going to tell you about my summer later, perhaps, in August.
Hope to hear from you again!
Best wishes,
Kirill

Yulia to Argentina

Hi, dear friends from Argentina!
My name is Julia. I’m from Nefteugansk, Russia.   I want to tell you about our place. We live in a small town. We have very bad climate here. Even in the summer it`s sometimes snowing. We have  very cold and snowy winters and sometimes there is nothing else to do besides sitting at home.
One day my friend and I watched a program about snowboarding and we were very interested in it. We read all sorts of articles in the Internet and bought snowboards. And now I have been doing this sport for 3 years.  As in other extreme sports there are injures sometimes and I had a bruised spine. But nothing serious happened. What sports do you prefer? Do you ski in resorts there?
I look forward to your response and hope that someday I will visit your country.
Best wishes,
Julia.

P. S. You can see me in this picture, I'm in a coloured jacket just in the centre.
Hi, my dear friends! It's Seva again. I'd like to know if you have watched my video. If not yet I'm going to add it here now. Perhaps you would like to watch it though it's in Russian.
Best wishes,
Seva

To our friends from Tatiana

Dear friends from Argentina!
My name is Tatiana. I live in a small town and I wanna to leave it because I was in  Berlin, Germany and I liked it there. It is a very beautiful and modern city; there is a lot of modern architecture because many historic buildings were destroyed during the World War II. I love this country. I like its culture, language and art. In this picture you can see me in Germany. I was very surprised because there was no snow in winter. In my city the temperature can drop to -30 degrees Celcius below zero in winter! It is considered a normal temperature for our climate.
I'm interested in your country but I know little about it. And your language is very beautiful. I only know a few words in Spanish. I want to get to know about your culture. I would like you to advise me your national writers, poets, interesting film-makers and musicians. I would be very grateful if you do that.
I`m looking forward to a letter from you as soon as possible.
Best wishes,
Tatiana.

From Diana to everybody

Hello dear  friends from Argentina!
My name is Diana and I’m from Russia. I am a student of  teacher Valentina. I realy enjoy reading the letters in the blog. I think we also can write to each other and it can be interesting. In one of the letters your teacher Melina wrote about the teachers’ strike. We’d like to know what was the result! Teachers here have never been on a strike.
I want to tell you about our city of Nefteugansk, though, it’s really not a city but a town. Its population  is  one hundred and twenty thousand people. The climatic  conditions in Nefteugansk  are rather extreme. It is the area with sharp-continental climate and is characterized  by long severe winters and short summers.
Eagerly waiting for  your  reply,
Diana

To our friends in Argentina from Yana

Hi  Pilar, and all our friends from Argentina!
This is Yana again. Pilar, it was interesting to read your letter and I'd like to ask you  some questions.
Is Mendoza a resort town? I have never gone skiing, I think that it is very interesting and we can get a lot of adrenaline. In our city there is a ski resort "Stone Point" where you can also go skiing and  do other various winter sports. When I was younger, my parents brought me there and we spent our time very well there!
Dear friends! I and all my classmates look forward to your answers!
Best wishes,
Yana!

Hi, dear Argentinean friends!
My name is Ann. I’m a student of teacher Valentina. I like reading your letters in the blog.
I’ve heard that your teachers had a strike. Were you glad about it? Did you support them? What was the result?
I like cinema very much, but I don’t know Argentinean cinematograph. Can you tell me about it? Can you advice me something to watch? What movies are popular in your country? What should I watch to learn more about your country? Recently I watched the film about your compatriot Ernesto Che Guevara. I was very impressed with the life in Latin America at the time. Tell me about famous Argentinean actors and directors.
In addition to the cinema I like to read books. What would you like to do in your spare time?
I look forward to your reply.
Best wishes,
Ann
P.S. It’s the photo of myself. You know, one of my hobbies is to take pictures using a film camera not a digital one. This picture is an example of it. I would be glad to watch your photos too!

Thursday 3 May 2012

Dear friend!
My name is Seva. I am 16. I would like to tell you a little about me. I live in the city of Nefteyugansk. Today I want to tell you about one beautiful day. This is the day when I decided to shoot a video about my mother. I don't know why I decided to make a video on this very day, but I knew exactly what I must do this. My younger brother helped me to make the video.
Shooting does not take a lot of time. When I finished my video, I decided that it should be seen not only by my friends and relatives, but also by other people. Now with the help of the YouTube site, you too can appreciate my creation. Here is the address of the site     http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhCQmv0H8kQ
I heard so many nice words. Everybody liked my idea. But still more important for me was to hear the opinion of my mother. Since it was she who inspired me to this video. To my surprise, I saw my mother's tears. They were tears of happiness. For me it was the best of all praise. And the words weren't needed to understand what she was proud of me. Then, having calmed down, she told me a lot of warm and pleasant words.
And what are your hobbies? Perhaps you too are fond of the same things as I dd. I would like to read a letter from you very much . I wait for your stories with impatience.
     Your friend from Russia,
      Seva
   Hi, my dear pen friends!
My name is Kirill and I’m writing you from a little town inWwest Siberia – Nefteugansk. In my letter I want to tell you about my plans for this summer.
Every person waits for summer holidays, which in Russia last from June till the end of August. And the first part of June I will spend in Nefteugansk, because some of my friends study in 11 class and  pass exams, after that they will disperse to different cities of our country to study in universities.
In the second part of June I will visit the capital of my country – Moscow. I love this city for its historical sights, big trade centers, skyscrapers and a great amount of people. And from this city I will fly in  the United Kingdom. I will live in host family in Eastbourne for a month. This sweat time I will spend in interesting chatting with different people and developing my communicative skills.
In the end of July I want to get to summer camp on the shore of the  Black sea. I was in this camp last summer and with my team made a lot of economics and social projects. And in this summer we want to have a rest! No work in summer time!!)
I wish that this summer would give me a mass of good impressions and energy, which will help me to pass exams next year and enter the university.
I want to ask you some questions. How do you usually spend your summer/winter holidays? Would you visit us in the nearest future? May we meet some of your in July this summer in London?
Hope to hear from you soon,
    Best wishes,
    Kirill.

Hi, Melina and the students!
Today we are going to add some letters to the blog. And, of course, we are looking forward to having your letters and pictures!
Valentina and the students

Hi, dear friends!

My name is Yana, I`m 16 years old. I study at a secondary school in the 10th form. I want to tell you about one day of my life, it`s my friend’s birthday.
On Sunday, the 29th of April, my friends and I celebrated the birthday of our dear friend Katy. Specially for her, I and my friends had a party in Hawaiian style. I liked it very much , because it was unforgettable. It was very interesting to prepare decorations, food and different contests, costumes, regarding that she knew nothing. On her birthday she wanted to get the car and we baked a cake like a car in which our present was hidden. She was very surprised.

I want you to tell me about your unusual birthday. How and where did you celebrate it? Which of the holidays are very popular in your country? What unusual gift was presented to you?

Look forward to your answer,
Yana!

Tuesday 1 May 2012

Hello,
My name is Masha, I’m 16 years old. As you know I live in Nefteugansk, Russia.   It’s a very small town,  but it’s nice. We have some places to go out. What about your town?
For me it was awesome to know that your summer holidays are in December, January and February, because in our country they are winter month .
May you tell me about your country and some unusual traditions?
Do you like reading? What kind of books do you like? As for me, it’s my favorite hobby, but I have so little time for it. My last book which I've read is “War and Pease ” by Leo Tolstoy, Russian famous writer. It’s really good, but it is so hard page-turner.
And also I like art. I think that Salvador Dali is the best artist all over  the world! What about you? Which artists do you like?
So, my lesson is over, I should go. Look forward to your letter!
Best wishes,
Masha

Happy New School Year!

Dear pen-friends from Argentina,
We are very pleased to partner with you in the blog, this is a very interesting and enjoyable work.
We’ve heard that your school year begins in March. It is very surprising for us, as we have been learning for 5 months and looking forward to summer vacation very much which will be only in June, July and August.
What is the name of your school and what grade are you in? We would like to know how your vacation was. Maybe you spent your vacation in some interesting places or you spent the summer in Argentina, didn’t you? We know that Argentina is extremely beautiful and very warm!
In our town which is called Nefteugansk, summer is usually not too warm and long.
As we haven’t the sea or any famous sights nearby, we usually go away to some southern parts of Russia oe even to other countries during the summer. Some children go to summer camps in the resort towns where they have fun, other children have part-time job.
As for me, my name is Merim Dzhalmambetova. I’m 16 years old, I study in secondary school № 5. My hobby is dancing and I have been doing dancing in the club called «Style» for 11 years. During the summer holidays I usually go to warm countries with my parents or to the camp.
We wish you good success in your new school year!
Best whishes,
Merim and other childrens.
