Your idea is wonderful!

Hello, our friends in Argentina!
We like your idea about video call through the Skype very much! The only problem is the difference in the time between Russia and Argentina. But we are sure we could come to school in the evening (you'll have morning then) in order to talk to you. So, please, let us know how to organise all this!
We have one more remarkable news! As you know, perhaps, the 2014 Winter Olympic Games will be held in Russia. The Olympic fire burnt in Greek is now travelling around Russia. On November, 5 we greeted it in our town. It was a great event for all of us! We'll try to add some pictures to the blog in order you can have the idea how it was.
Best wishes,
your friends from Russia

Vadim to Argentina

Dear Friends,
          How are you doing?
My  name is Vadim, my surname is Komarov. I`m a boy of sixteen. I was born on the 29th of May 1997 in the town of Nefteyugansk, where I live now together with my parents and a younger sister. When I look at myself  in the mirror I see a boy with medium light brown hair and green eyes. As to my appearance I`m rather tall and strong. I`m calm, funny and kind. I like to laugh and joke. Also, I have got a good sence of  humour.
I`m a pupil of form 10. I like to study, because knowledge is useful sometimes. My favourite  subjects are English, Russian and History. I really try hard on them. I`m very sociable, so I have got a lot of  friends among my schoolmates. As for me, I appreciate people`s honesty, kidness, sences of humour, justice and intelligence. I don`t like, when people are rude and aggressive. I`m harmful and stubborn at times. Also, I never leave things half done. I think, that I`m rather hard-working and diligent.
And now a few words about my pastime. I like to play my favourite computer game «Contract Wars» very much. I like rap music. My favourite singers are «Schokk» and «Oxxxymiron». They are kings in rap life. Besides, I like to go to the cinema. Sometimes I play different sport games for health and pleasure. I usually play such games as football and volleyball. I like to wear jeans, T-shirts, trousers, shoes and trainers.
In coclusion, I want to tell you about my dream for the future: after finishing school I`ll try to enter a good University, to have a very successful career, to build the home of my dreams and to find someone in my life to share all that with.
Your new friend Vadim.

Olga to Argentina

Dear friends!
My name is Olga Rumyantseva. I was born on the 20 of November 1997 in Nefteyugansk. I am 15 years old. I study in grade 10.
How are you doing?I`m fine, but it`s taken me a while to settle in. It`s been two months now since I moved to a new school, so I thought I`d drop you a line to let you know how I`ve been getting on. My new school is multiprofiled and I have the profile "Law".
At the new school it is very good. There`s always something going on. The new school is very large, there are many good teachers. There are lots of interesting people here, too. Even though I`ve only been here for a short time, I`ve already made quite a few new friends.
I`m really enjoying studying here, but I still miss my former school that is Lyceum № 1 from time to time. I think that this school may soon become my second home.
Well, that`s all my news for now. Write back and let me know what you`ve been up.

It's the collage where you can see myself and my friend Vadim whose letter you'll see here too.
Love from Olga.

To Argentinian friends from Daria

Dear friends,
Hi! How are you today? I’m really glad to write you this letter.
To start, I want to tell you something about me. My name is Daria, I’m fifteen yeas old. I finished musical school last year as a piano player, and I really like music, especially rock music and reading books. By the way , you can see my pictures from the rock party held in our town. Also, I enjoy walking with my friends. It’s a pity, we can’t walk long hours, because we live in a small, really small town and it became very boring.  I’m keen on Chemistry and Biology, because I want to become a doctor.
Furthermore, I do sports, such as aikido and swimming. Also, I am interested in psychology, as my mother is.
I really love all my family. My mother is a psychologist and my father is an engineer. Also, I have a little sister, Maria. She can be really annoying, but I still love her.
Anyway, that’s all for now. I’m looking forward to your answer.
Best wishes,
Daria.

Hello our friends in Argentina!
We are glad you are going to participate in the project together with us! Please, wait a little because it takes some time to write our first letters to you. Next week you'll get a lot of them!
We see from your pictures that your class isn't very big. Are there really only six students? What subjects do you study? Here in our school we have very huge groups of students: 30 students or even more. We study Russian, Maths, Literature, English, History, Geography, Chemistry, Physics, Biology. Sometimes it's rather difficult to be good at all of them!
Well, we hope to hear from you again and again!

Alexey to Argentenean friends

              Hello,Micaela, Georgina and Erika!

My name is Alexey. I’m from a small town called Nefteyugansk in Siberia, Russia.
I like to spend my time with friends by going for a walk, to the cinema or maybe to the club. Also I like to work with my computer.
I’m so glad about talking with you. There in Russia we have been studding in high school for 7 years. So now I’m seventeen years old. Yes, you are right we have not got a school uniform, but that does not mean that we can wear everything we want. I have to say that from the next year uniform will be included to our school and probably to all schools in Russia. Usually, when we finish high school we just prepare to continue studying in a university or etc. We do not do something unusual for our lives at the end of studying, so it’s only a little celebration for a reason of joining adult life.
Most families got 3-4 members: a mum, a dad, a son and/or a daughter. But mostly 4. Here in Russia we usually have no private houses, I mean big houses on the private territory  with a  garden and a  loan. We have got high blocks of flats, with 5-9 storeys with more than 100 flats in each.
  Best wishes,
 Alexey

School Elite Celebration

Good afternoon, friends!
My name is Guzel and I'm writing to you for the first time. I can't wait to tell you  about the last school news! As you know, our school life is full of not only great pupils, but of imressive and unforgettable events too.Today I'm talking about the holiday which we call "School Elite", this event has become traditional for us. But this year everybody was breathtaken with  great perfomances and presentations of many awards! I can't find the right words to describe how fantastic and stunning it was! I even can deny that there were people who were not happy for all the winners! I also was lucky and it was really big honour for me to be a participant of this ceremony,  I also got my awards in two special nominations.
We have special nominators in different categories, such as : "Best of the Bests" "Sports Progress" "Best team work (which includes various competitions, sport games and other kinds of team commucation) " ,"Awards for Foreign Language Learners", "Nominations for individual subjects" and so on!

The event took its place at our school auditorium, it's not very large but we had enough place for all the audience: pupils, teachers (including our Headmistress and her assistants), and childrens' parents. The show promised to be exclusive! And that it was!

Amazing presenters started the show and their speech was really good, everybody loved it! Then the first nomanation was announced and all the winners of it got their awards. And I'm very proud to say that I was in the first nomination too which was called "The Intellectual Elite".  Actually we had many winners this year and it was really cool!
As you know there are 30 students in our class and 13 of them were awarded in this or that nomination. Our class teacher Valentina was very proud of her students.
All in all, we had great  time and, of course, it will stay in our memories for a long period
I'd like to thank our school for such a magnificient show! I really hope that this tradition will exist for the  following years and everybody will enjoy it like we do!
Best wishes from Guzel!

Hello Friends!

Our names are Micaela, Georgina and Erika. We are seventeen years old. We all live in a small town called San Francisco.
We are in fifth year at high school. As we are almost finishing, we are designing sweaters and t-shirts for our promotion. Then, we´re going to post some pics.
We were surprised when we saw your photo at school. You do not have to wear uniform! Here in Argentina, we do wear a uniform... Boring :)
At weekends, we usually like going for walks and have "mates" with our friends. On Saturday night, we always meet and have dinner together.
All of us have large families. As we live in the countryside our families are in charge of raising animals.

We would like to know more about you...
-What´s the tradition in your country / town when you finish high school?
-Have you got large families?
-How many students are there in your school?

Hope you letters! Keep in touch!!!

Around Europe

I`m so glad to write to you again, my dear friends from Argentina!
As I know, you`ve just started your studying. I`m sure you have had a great rest. So, what can you tell us about your holidays?
I have a lot of news for you. We have had spring holidays two weeks long. I spent the time travelling around Europe. I`ve visited so many countries, cities, famous historical and cultural centers, architectural and natural sights. For example, ruins of Pompeii in Napoli (Italy), Rome and residence of Pope in Vatican. I walked along the famous bridge in Luzern, Switzerland. But most of all I liked Germany, especially Baden-Baden, and Austria with its capital of Vienna. Both countries impressed me very much and brought unforgettable memories for the whole of my life.
Well, I'm looking forward to your impressions about the holidays and I hope that you have had the same great time as I had. If you wish I can add some more pictures of my amazing journey.

Read our journal!

Hello, dear friends from Argentina!
We were very glad to receive your letters.
Actually, our vacation took place 2 weeks ago.  In the first half of the day we were studying our profile subjects at school. In the second part of the day everyone was doing what he or she wanted to.
We’d like to tell you about our amazing project. For 2 years we are issuing the journal  called «Polar Lights».  It consists of various topics about our occasions, travels  and so on. You can see it at the site of our school. Here is the e-address and the links, though, they are in Russian:
then click Это интересно
then Школьный журнал на английском языке "Polar Lights" (выпуск 2)
or  Школьный журнал на английском языке "Polar Lights" (выпуск 1)

In both issues we wrote about our project with your school. Now we are working on the third issue of the journal and are going to write about you. So we ask you to read the previous issues and send your responses to us.
Best wishes,
Reseda

Hi, Argentinean friends!
Thanks for your letter, we are very glad to your responses. We like your photos very much.
We would like to wish you a successful school year and a good preparation for the exams.
You wrote about the video conference. We think that this is a good idea. But we have a big difference in time. Though,we think that this is not a problem at all. When it is morning in your country it is evening here in our place. I think we could come to school in the evening to take part in such a conference.
Let`s discuss and do it!
We are looking forward to your reply!
Your friend Yana

Hello dear fellows!

Thanks for your las letters. We are so sorry that we did not see the boy in your pic. You are such a big group!!!

We'd like to tell you about our summer vacations. We all stayed in our towns enjoying hot and sunny days, whole afternoons in the swimming pool; and at night we had great fun at the disco, dancing with our friends.

Now..that we started school, we can only go to the park to hace some "mates". And then, we go back home again and do our homework.

Lots of love,

Micaela, Junnifer and Micaela.
Hi friends!

We are Florencia and Juanma. We started classes last March 4th. And as we could read in your last letter, you are almost finishing! Isn't it awsome!?!?

What is the weather like there? Is it cold? Here, Autumn has started a few days ago.

As regards our class, I (Juanma) am the only boy in the group. As we are in fifth year at high school, everything is exciting and interesting! We'll enjoy our last year at school as much as we can.

We'd like to carry out a video conference this year. What about you? Would you like it?

                  Write soon!

                                            Flor and Juan =P

Hi everybody!

How are you? We read almost all your letters... and now we'll start to answer them.

Are you going on vacation? What are you going to do?

As regards our school year..it has just started and we have lots of things to do and study!!! It's time to work hard...after so many days of strike. The problem was that teachers complained about their low salaries.

This year we have a new classmate. Her name is Jennifer and she is eighteen years old.
Here you can see a picture of all of us at school. As you can see, we are only a few students...Anyway we get on very well with each other and we enjoy sharing mornings together.

Keep in touch,

Love from Argentina.
